Partners in the Malaria Prevention Project

ChildAlive is working with local partners bring pesticide-treated mosquito nets and curtains to the people of Burkina Faso. Our partners include:

  • Local health committees comprised of representatives from villages throughout Burkina Faso

  • The traditional king of the Kaan people, one of the ethnic groups in Burkina Faso.

  • Local health care center officials

  • Representatives from The World Health Organization Pesticide Evaluation Scheme

 

Partners in Eliminating Epidemic Meningitis in Africa

Several public and private organizations are contributing to create the first comprehensive meningitis prevention program in Africa's meningitis belt:

  • The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - a private foundation that works to reduce inequities and improve lives around the world.


  • The Meningitis Vaccine Project - a partnership between the World Heath Organization (WHO) and PATH, a Seattle-based NGO, to develop and introduce conjugate meningococcal vaccines to eliminate meningitis as a public health problem in sub-Saharan Africa.


  • The GAVI Alliance - a global partnership that unites public and private sector resources to bring the benefits of immunization to children in greatest need.


  • WHO AFRO - the regional office for Africa that will manage and lead introduction of the Men A conjugate vaccine through its country and sub-regional affiliates.

  • The Research Council of Norway and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) – The Research Council of Norway has granted US$2 million to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health to support the meningococcal carriage studies in Burkina Faso for the next 2.5 years.
