How You Can Help

For some, a simple mosquito bite means death. One child dies every 30 seconds from malaria in Africa. That’s 3,000 a day. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Malaria is not only treatable, it’s preventable. And it costs so little.

$10 buys an insecticide-treated bed net, door curtain or window curtain that can protect a child for up to five years. And when more than 60 percent of the inhabitants of a village use the nets, malaria rates usually drop sharply.

In other words, $10 can save a child’s life. And, it can contribute toward ending malaria as a major cause of death in a region of the world.

Innocent
The 16-month child pictured here, named Innocent, has battled with malaria for most of his young life. During each bout his parents have travelled miles on bicycle and bush taxi to get him medicine and care. Each time Innocent has fought and survived – but just barely, sometimes lapsing into a coma before regaining his strength. Your contribution to ChildAlive can prevent other children like Innocent from succumbing to this deadly disease.
